Mystery Blogger Award

This award was originally created by Maggie @okoto enigma

“Mystery blogger award” is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging, and they do it with so much love and passion.

I was nominated by Stephanie and Dani, these amazing two girls with unbelievable personalities and blogs to reflect them. Check them out!

The Rules:

  • Put the award logo/image in your post.
  • List all the rules.
  • Thank whoever nominated you and leave a link to their blog.
  • Tell your readers 3 things about yourself.
  • Nominate 10-20 people and notify them.
  •  Link back to the creator of the award. (Okoto Enigma)
  • Ask nominees any 5 questions of your choice, with a weird or funny question.
  • Share the link to your best/favorite post of yours.

3 Things about myself:

  • I just started a new paint-by-numbers painting, and to make myself even more frustrated, I picked Night Cafe by Van Gogh. Why did nobody warn me what a bad idea it was for a girl, who already has no free time to speak of?
  • I am currently in a planning stages of going to Ed Sheeran’s concert in Europe next year, having my passport made and everything. Who wants to be my travelng buddy?
  • Yeah, uhm. this is imbarassing but I spent half last night picking out karaoke songs I don’t totally suck at. I’m that girl, shoot me now.

Stephanie’s Questions:

    1. What is one thing that is on your bucket list (or thing you really want to do in your lifetime)?

I want to have a road trip acros Europe in a car with a guy I love (whoever he might be), blasting music and lots of food.

2. How would you describe yourself in a few words?

Simple. Opinionated. Clums. Forgiving. Introverted. Friendly. Beautiful. Because we all are.

3. What is your favorite book genre? Your least favorite?

Many genres are very often found on my shelves but the ones I gravitate most to is fantasy and paranormal. I guess I choose to believe that there’s still magic in our world, that even if we don’t see it, it’s still there. In old books, lost languages, forgotten places and sometimes even in ourselves. Call me a romantic if you want, I call it common sense.

4. Describe the perfect relaxing evening.

A glass of wine, a book, sea breeze lowing through my window. What could be better?

 5. What is your guiltiest pleasure?

I don’t feel guilt over my pleasures, life’s too short to bother with absurdities like that. If it brings you joy, a smile to your face, a tingle to sertain places then just endulge yourself. Why should you feel guilty about it?

Dani’s Questions

  • Why did you choose your current blog name?

Because when I thought about what I wanted to right about – it just clicked. I love books and I love music and they always go hand in hand for me. And as they both have words, and words in songs called lyrics it made sense for me.

  • What is your favorite book?

That’s like asking wich of your children do you love most. Are you crazy? I can’t name just one.

  • What is your favorite thing to do, besides reading:)?

Singing. Mostly to myself, in the car, in the shower. Whith a friend when we hear the song we both like. It’s freeing somehow, I can’t describe it.

  • If you could change anything about this World what would it be?

I’d make it a matriarchal society, because yeah we could be bitchy and mean and selfish, but women are also above all nurturing and we would treat the world very differently then it is being treated right now.

  • What was the last book you read?

The Red by Tiffany Reisz

I couldn’t decide how to feel about this book once I started reading it, it went from here to there and messed with my head too much. But I just have to say that this author has some kind of hold on her readers, it’s never simple with her and I love it.

My Questions:

  1. Do you have a song that makes you cry every time you hear it?
  2. What’s your favorite time of the day and why?
  3. Name one place you always wanted to go but never did.
  4. Do you have a favorite piece of food that you can never say no to, no matter how full you are?
  5. Who from your family you feel most connected to?

My favorite post by me:

Ok, guys! I’m hopelessly behind on this award and others too so I won’t be tagging anyone, because everyone already done it. But if you didn’t then go right ahead and tell us all your dirty secrets. We’re not a judgy bunch))

Award: The Sunshine Blogger Award #2

collage (2).jpg

I was nominated by Mischenko for the this great Sunshine Blogger Award and I’d like to thank her for nominating me. Please check out Mischenko’s blog. You will find a lot of amazing book and movies reviews, a great taste of music she share with all of us and a lot of pet love.

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive and inspiring, while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

How Does It Work:

  • Thank the person(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog
  • Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo on your post and/or on your blog

Mischenko’s Questions:

Is there something you can tell readers about yourself and your blog?

Let’s see, I’m a big child who believes people to be better than they are, but when faced with reality prefers to live in her happy bubble. That’s why I read so much, and that’s why I have this blog I guess, to share my happy bubble with people who want it or need it.

What satisfaction do you get from blogging?

I get to vent and not filter my words. I get to choose what I want to write about and what I share, it’s really amazing how people can connect through a platform like this.

How do you bring traffic to your blog?

Traffic? I just started doing this like a couple months ago, I don’t know what I’m doing still ))

What’s something that you’d like to improve on this year?

Hmmm, do I have to improve something? As far as I’m concerned, everything is pretty good.

How do you get motivated to blog?

It’s not the motivation, it’s time I’m lacking at the moment. I have so much tags I’m behind on, it’s getting awkward.

Do you have any favorite books this year?

Hell, yes! The whole ACOTAR and Hidden Legacy series. They were amazing surprises.

The Hooker and the Hermit (Rugby, #1)Take Me with YouBlack Swan AffairBlade Bound (Chicagoland Vampires, #13)Punk 57The Bourbon Thief

Are there any songs you’re into right now, or music artists?

There’s always songs I’m into, at any given moment. Right now it’s:

What do you like to do with your spare time?

Read, watch tv, go to the movies with friends, annoy my cat, sing along at the top of my lungs to my favorite songs.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I like surprises, so we’ll see.

If you could choose ONLY 5 subjects to read on other blogs, what would they be? (Books, music, film, health, etc.)

Books, music, film, tv, travel.

Do you make money from your blog? If not, do you have plans to try in the future?

Nuh! But wait till I get like half a million subscribers and then I’ll be swimming in dough ;D

My Nominees:

Some of you may have done this tag already but I mentioned you anyway, so you know I thought of you.

These questions are very good and I’m feeling lazy today so just use them, ok?

Thanks for reading and have a good week! Cheers!

TAG: Desert Island Discs Blog Tag

I would like to thank Nel@reactionarytales and Mischenko for tagging me. Be sure to stop by their blogs and say Hi, they’re amazing people with much to say to the world. You’ll feel right at home on those pages.

The Rules:

  • Link back to BookBum’s original post, so she can see all your answers! (Remember to do this via pingback, she won’t get a notification if not!)
  • Thank the person who tagged you… show some love!
  • Come up with your answers
  • Then tag others to keep the tag going!

The Premise:

You are cast away onto a remote desert island:

  • You can bring 5 albums – what are they?
  • You can bring one book – which is it? You are provided with a Bible/ other religious text if you want it, as well as the Complete Works of Shakespeare. No series!
  • You can have one luxury item (it has to be inanimate and can’t help you escape the island) – what is it?

What I’m bringing:

  • Albums

If I only get to have 5 for an unforeseeable future, I gotta make sure to pick the ones that invoke different emotions, right? That means I’m bringing:

Jagged little pill             Veronica Mars OST                    Divide                               Lungs                                  25

Картинки по запросу jagged little pillКартинки по запросу veronica mars soundtrackКартинки по запросу ed sheeran divideКартинки по запросу lungs florence and the machine deluxe editionКартинки по запросу adele 25 album cover

Alanis is for angst, Veronica for when I’m feeling mellow, Ed for my happy mood, Flo for when I’m feeling like crazy and Adele for when I’m lonely. If it’s a deserted island my guess is I’ll be listening to a lot of Adele.

  • Book

Shakespeare is great, but I’m more of an Oscar Wilde girl myself. I have a big book of his works and that’s what I’ll be taking with me. It has something for every occasion, so you can’t go wrong.

Картинки по запросу oscar wilde complete works

  • Luxury item

A nice sturdy camping tent would be great. Too much sun is bad for skin and I burn easily anyway, so I’ll need a tent. Plus you can hide from the rain in it and sleep without moskquitoes eating you, it’s an all around great thing to bring on an island. Not sure it could shelter from a big storm, so I’ll probably have to bury it in the sand or something and tie myself to a palm tree for the time being, but otherwise it’s a sound investment.

Rapid Fire Book TAG!

No one seems to tag anyone on this so I just jumped on it when I saw Mischenko do it. She has a pretty neat blog about books if you want to check it out.

I guess originally this TAG was made by GirlReading over Youtube, so be sure to stop by and check her out HERE.

Now to the Q&A!

Question 1: E-Book or Physical Book?

E-book. If I had to carry around all my books with me always, I’d look like a Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Question 2 : Paperback or Hardback?

Hardback. Paperbacks are flimsy.

Question 3 : Online or In-Store Book Shopping?

In-Store for physical books. Definitely.

Question 4 : Trilogies or Series?

Series. Just because there are so many I love, can’t say the same about trilogies.

Question 5 : Heroes or Villains?

Villains. I have a thing about them. Also heroes don’t have much room for character growth, but villains have endless potential.

Question 6 : A book you want everyone to read?

Nevermore by Kelly Creagh.

Question 7 : Recommend an underrated book?

Night Watch by  Sergei Lukyanenko. I wouldn’t call it underrated, just not hugely known in the big world.

Question 8 : The last book you finished?

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas. Epic series!

Question 9 :The Last Book(s) You Bought?

Insatiable by Meg Cabot. I had to, it was a compulsion.

Question 10 : Weirdest Thing You’ve Used as a Bookmark?

Another book.

Question 11 : Used Books: Yes or No?

No. Just because I don’t even have access to places with used books. Libraries don’t count.

Question 12 : Top Three Favorite Genres?

Paranormal/Fantasy, Romantic comedies, Mystery

Question 13 : Borrow or Buy?

Buy. I prefer to read in original language and my friends don’t.

Question 14 : Characters or Plot?

It’s a double trouble. If the only thing interesting about the book is its main character I doubt I’d continue reading. Same goes for books with dull characters you can’t connect to but good plot.

Question 15 : Long or Short Books?

Long. A quick fix is not that satisfying most of the time.

Question 16 : Long or Short Chapters?

Long. Same reasoning really.

Question 17 : Name The First Three Books You Think Of…

The Duff by Kody Keplinger

Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

Question 18 : Books That Makes You Laugh or Cry?

Cry. They have the most impact.

Question 19 : Our World or Fictional Worlds?

I live in both so…

Question 20 : Audiobooks: Yes or No?

No. I’m seeing the world the author is building only when I’m reading myself.

Question 21 : Do You Ever Judge a Book by its Cover?

Gulity. But have you seen the covers out there? They’re so pretty.

Question 22 : Book to Movie or Book to TV Adaptations?

Depends on the people involved.

Question 23 : A Movie or TV-Show You Preferred to its Book?

The Vampire Diaries. The books were too childish for me.

Question 24 : Series or Standalone?

Series. The world building is better and it’s more entertaining.

I’m not going to tag anyone because I wasn’t tagged, but you just go ahead and do it if you didn’t! I’d love to see your answers. Thanks for reading mine ))

Soul Ripping Romance TAG

I have to give thanks to Nel @ ReactionaryTales for this awesome new tag. She and I was discussing another one when she decided it’d be fun to play on people’s heartstrings. Good Job, Nell. Thanks for involving me 😉

The Guide:

  • Thank the person who tagged you and create a pingback to the original author (me).
  • Share at least 5 (but more are welcome) romances that tugged your heart strings. They can be from books, movies, TV shows, manga; anything you can think of! They can be examples of sad tears, angry tears, happy tears or a combination of all three.
  • Nominate 5 (or more) people to share their emotional traumas.
  • (Note: Try not to spoil the story for your readers in case they would like to check out these romances on their own).

Brace yourselves:

Tara and Willow

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

It took me some time to get over Willow and Oz ending things, I thought they were perfect for each other. And then Willow and Tara met and it was beautiful. They had their share of problems, struggles and even break-ups. It was all the more beautiful when they overcame all that. The end was sudden, nothing and no one was the same after that.

Annette and Sebastian

Cruel Intentions

Let’s be honest, Sebastian didn’t have the best intentions towards Annette at the beginning. They were too different as it was, him being a bastard and all. Maybe if Catherine wasn’t messing with them… Then again, no, he would still probably take it as a challange. Still, I cried for them.

Will and Lou

Me Before You

I knew going into it that the movie would wreck me, I was trying to prepare myself. I was a fool. Nothing, absolutely nothing, could stand in the way of me crying my eyes out. I’m never going to read the book now, it’s too hard.

Noah and Allie

The Notebook

Is there any other love story that is more beautiful than theirs? I think not. If you haven’t seen the movie, you must be living under a rock, seriously. Go watch it and prepare yourself to be Notebooked.

Blind Obsession by Ella Frank

Wondering why there are three names up there? No, it’s not a love triangle. Each and every one of those three had a tether to each other that was magical and terrible at the same time, making you bleed and cry for them, root for them. Ella Frank ripped my heart out with this one.

Картинки по запросу blind obsession book

I tag:

What couples make you all emotional? Joy, tears, tell us everything. Share your heartache and we’ll share Kleenex. I have a stack of unused boxes still. Cheers!

Romance Fails in Fiction TAG

The Rules:

  • Please PINGBACK to her at Kate @ Melting Pots and Other Calamities. Or just Kate. And PINGBACK TO A SPECIFIC POST.  She won’t see the post otherwise, and she’d like to see it.
  • At the very top of this post is the post I did the pingback for – other can copy that to make it easier if you’d like!
  • You can choose ten romance fails from ANY media you like: books, movies, anime, manga, T.V shows, or Webtoons. You can even mix them up if you want.
  • You can choose funny fails or serious ones; for the serious ones, phrase it humorously. Remember, this is a fun tag! It’s not meant to be serious.
  • Mention who’s who in the fails. (I.E, who fails and who is the recipient of the failure). If there isn’t  recipient, per se, just state the couple (or non-couple).
  • Optional: Rank the failures from least extreme to most extreme.
  • 5 failures at LEAST.
  • Tag as many people as you want, but at least one person.

I saw Nel doing this Tag and we had so much fun discussing it that I wanted to do mine too. I’m going to work with books, movies and tv-shows romance fails. Let’s begin.

8. Rose and Adrien from The Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

If not for the fact that Rose was desperately in love with Dimitri, it would’ve worked. She was sassy enough and he enough of a good bad boy to make things interesting. Not to mention him sticking to the family with dating a dhampir. Boy had genuine feelings and it was hard for me to see them burned. But, as always, the heart wants what it wants. Both Dmitri and Adrian had my effection and I’m glad Adrien got his deserved spin-off and a girl.

7. Scott and Kira from Teen Wolf

This was doomed from the beginning. The lack of chemistry was particularly obvious compared to what Scott and Allison had, no matter how much producers tried to convince us of the sparks.

Картинки по запросу teen wolf kira gif

6. Lydia and Jackson from Teen Wolf

The allure of bad boy is known to any girl, ut come on, enough is enough. The ammount of oral abuse and general lack of any interest can’t be negated by that one dramatic proclamation of love. Especially since after that Jackson disappeared to parts unknown. Good riddance.

5. Buffy and Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Oh yeah, the great big love of Buffy’s life. Gimme a break! All those two ever did was torture each other with their angst, doom and high morality. Then there was that time when he killed Willow’s pet fish. That was just low. I guess by now you figured out I’m a Spuffy shipper.

Картинки по запросу spuffy gif

4. Ellie/Eden and Javier from the Artists Trilogy by Karina Halle

You can say what you want about him being a bad guy, but you can’t deny the chemistry there. It sizzled! And sure, she was only with him to execute her plans of revenge and yet he would still take her if only she would stop being a sanctimonious bitch on her mighty high horse. She wasn’t a good girl by a long shot and I honestly couldn’t understand how she ended up choosing Camden.

3. Kisten and Rachel from The Hollows series by Kim Harrison

That one was heartbreaking. Total and absolute annihilation of any happy feelings for I don’t remember how long. I guess the death of one half of a couple could constitute a failed romance, right? The only reasoning I saw for Kim doing that is to lear the path for Trent and I hated him for it for a long time. But what can you do, it was obvious that Trend and Rachel was the end game, I just wish Kisten was spared from being the casualty.

2. Alex and Izzy from Grey’s Anatomy

Картинки по запросу alex izzy gif

Oh but that wasn’t true, was it? I guess the tragectory was set after Danny romance. No matter how hard Alex tried, there was always something between him and Izzy. Even having cancer didn’t stop Izzy from leaving him. And the way she left hammered the last nail in the coffin of their long suffering relationship. Disappearing with cancer without contacting anyone to know if you’re even alive was a bitch move. Turning up months and months later to get all in Alex’s business was even more incredible. I wish Alex would have a decent love interest at last, and I’m not considering Jo as that.

1. Mia and Sebastian from La La Land

It was perfect until the real world knocked on their door. Their undoing was that they were both artists, and as it often is, two artists can’t coexist in the same space for long without tearing each other apart. I’m sure there are exceptions to that rule, but it’s a rule for a reason. It broke my heart to watch Sebastian seeing the flashes of the life they could’ve had, so sad.

Картинки по запросу la la land gif

I’m tagging Mischenko for this one, because I’m curious what she would come up with. But, of course, anyone can join the fun. The more the merrier ;P

WW or They Did It, They Finally Did It

Картинки по запросу wonder woman poster

With blockbuster season finally upon us, my friends and I go to popcorn land every week if not every other day. Between aliens, robots, superheroes and mummies there’s enough action to last a lifetime. And where superheroes are concerned, battle of the titans continues. Of course I am talking Marvel vs. DC.

I’m not gonna lie, I’m a Marvel girl through and through but even I was excited about DC’s latest endeavours. My excitement was temporarily squashed by the letdown that was Suicide Squad but I’m a cheery person, so I wasn’t gonna let it bring me down. My hopes were picked up fast by the footage of Wonder Woman and Justice League (major bonus that Jason Momoa was in it), all I had to do was wait.

And tonight the wait was over. For WW that is. And you know what? I loved it. I enjoyed everything about it. The actors, the action, the story and most of all – the heart. That sort of magic touch could only be wielded by a woman, wich Patty Jenkins certainly proved. Choosing a woman to direct this epic “girl power” movie was a no-brainer, the question was to pick the right one, and me thinking studio heads bet on the right horse.

Gal Gadot was probably a weird choise for the role of WW at the beginning, but she quickly showed why she was perfect for it. She basically carried Batman vs. Superman on her “fragile woman’s” shoulders and yes, it’s my opinion but come on, you know I’m right. Having her own movie gave her room to breath and shine in earnest. The quiet grace, innocence, and courage made Gadot’s WW a worthy heir of that name.

I can’t not mention Robin Wright, the woman amazes me with her badassery. There’s probably no other woman like her out there and that makes her another sort of wonder woman in my book. There’s nothing she can’t do.

As for the love story, where there’s Chris Pine – there’s love. Those baby blues worked their magic for quite some time now but they would be nothing without a talent, and the guy has it. His character, Steve Trevor, and Diana has a bit of Steve Rogers/Peggy Carter situation going on and so obviously viewer’s shouldn’t expect a happily ever after. Although, I don’t know, there’s always hope.

My favorite part of the movie was the scene on the neutral line between warring camps, the way Diana wasn’t willing to compromise her principles. It made me proud somehow.

The only minus of the movie was Ares. Dude was transparent as a glass wall. Also he was overly dramatic and definitely talked too much. I guess we can’t have the good without the bad, nature demands balance and all that.

To sum it all up, the movie was a great example that female superheroes can and should be allowed out of the dark corner. There are actually a lot of excellent characters to be explored, to give variety to a superheroes universe, dominated by testosterone. Both in Marvel and DC. Hopefully this would be the first step in that direction. Grab your friends or partners and go see the movie, it’s worth it.

Over and out

Anything But Books TAG

My first TAG, yay! I was taged by Nell at Reactionary Tales. Her blog is full of books, photos, poems and thoughts on different matters. You should check it out if you haven’t yet, it’s pretty awesome. And I’m sure she won’t mind you following it.

Note: The image used for the Feature Image is not my creation! It’s been spread around for some time, but I’m preety positive it belongs to another blogger; The Girl Who Read Too Much book blog.

One: Name a cartoon that you love

I honestly haven’t watched that many lately, but when I was a kid I had two cartoons I would watch religiously. Sailor Moon and Scooby Doo.

Картинки по запросу sailor moon gifКартинки по запросу scooby doo gif

I think I was crushing on Sailor Moon’s guys more than anything else and Scooby was just hilarious.

Two: What is your favorite song right now?

I wasn’t aware of this band until a couple of months ago and this song was the first I heard of theirs. It still makes me feel all emotional, it doesn’t hurt that the voice of their vocalist is like sin on stick.

Three: What could you do for hours that isn’t reading?

Binge watch, definitely. I’m on season 3 of Breaking Bad, then I have latest season of House of Cards, and then second season of Sense8. Believe me, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Four: What is something that you love to do that your followers would be surprised by?

Paint by numbers. I’m a freak with those. You can give me a box and not hear from me for a while. Nifty trick if you wan’t to get rid of me for whatever reason.

Five: What is your favorite unnecessarily specific thing to learn about?

I like to learn about ancient myphs and legends. In high school and colledge I was fascinated with Egypt and Greek myphology. All the gods and bastions are still so misterious and awesome.

Six: What is something unusual that you know how to do?

I have mad skills with a screwdriver. Anything that needs fixing or assambling – I’m your girl. And I mean anything.

Seven: Name something you made in the last year and show us if you can.

Made myself a jewelry shelf for all the shiny stuff. Very proud of myself.

Eight: What is your most recent personal project?

This blog, I finally talked myself into doing it. Glad I did, met a few incredible people here, now if only I had a little more time to throw myself fully in. Time is always running away from me.

Nine: Tell us something that you think about often?

I think about my country (Ukraine) being in total shitstorm right now, without any end in sight. I think about my friends and family not being able to visit each other like normal people. I think about how untrustworthy the media around it all is. I think about how much I don’t want to talk about it with anyone outside my circle of people, because of how polarizing the issue is. I think about the books I read being my little bubble of happiness and joy, it’s how I unwind. Jeez, that was heavy. Sorry, guys.

Eleven: Say the first thing that pops into your head.

Ice cream. I’ll go get some.

Tag! You’re it! Thanks for reading. Join in the fun and tag your friends. I tag everyone, because I don’t know who haven’t done this TAG yet. Cheers.
