Book review: Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2)

Magic Burns by Ilona AndrewsMagic Burnes by Ilona Andrews

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Song: Sleigh Bells – Comeback Kid

Now I know why all you people love Curran so much. I mean that final scene was so sweet and heartwarming, I could’ve sworn my eyes were doing that heart pumping thing you see in cartoons.

Yeah, that one

Kate was also a far cry from how she was in book one. She’s a lot more sarcastic, funny and hotheaded and if you know me – you know that’s exactly how I like my book ladies.

I don’t know what changed for the writing team between book 1 and two but I’m happy it came to this result, the Ilona Andrews we all know and love.

The worldbuilding got stronger, I loved knew characters and enjoyed getting to know Derek more. He’s a fine sidekick and he’s adorable. The myphology was way more interesting this time too. I’m a sucker for greek myphology and different interpratations of it. There’s just so much possibilities there, it’s a depthless well. I hope it gets explored more here.

Last thing – I laughed my ass off a few times and it was an unexpected delight. I’m happy I decided to continue with the series and hope you will too.

Over and out
