Buddy read with my freaky mind-twin Nel.
Guys, we have a winner!
Many many people told me how awesome Kate Daniels series are, but Hidden Legacy just took the cake in my opinion. Still, I’m reading Kate because I’m now in love with Ilona Andrews’s writing. In Nevada she created my perfect leading lady: strong, capable, sarcastic, loyal, smart, won’t-take-shit, funny and all in all loveable character I can really cheer for.
And that family of hers is out of this world, especially grandma Frida. I want Frida to be my grandma too, or even mother-in-law, or whatever, I just need that woman in my life.
“You have to live a little.” Grandma fitted the track bar into the cog on the track. “Go out with a bad boy. Run headfirst into a fight. Get roaring drunk. Something!”
The world in wich they all live is pretty damn interesting, with the Houses, the powers, the levels and all the politics involved. Even the rich ones are not that far from the regular people if they have little or no power at all. And still they manage to be snobs, go figure. Nevada is only now beginning to realize her true potential and I have a feeling she’ll make Primes run for their money, if she hadn’t before. You go, girl!
Mad Rogan. Well, it irked me a little that people called him that throughout the book when he has a perfectly good name. I get that we were supposed to fear him and be cautious, but come on, when he introduces himself to other people by that moniker it gets a bit too much. Can we please just call him Connor already? Now that we know him and love him and lust for him? Yes, he was a prick for a while, but the more time he spent with Nevada, the more his true personality came through and he’s actually pretty decent and funny guy. Who knew?
Anyway, I’m looking forward to reading more of Nevada’s story and hopefully I’ll get my hands on the third book soon, or I might just self-combast. Great book, really and truly.
Over and out
