For all the peeps who hate love triangles …
Oh and, that book description you read does not prepare you at all for what’s inside. More like it sidetracks you. Because let me tell you, nothing and no one is what/who it seems to be at first glance. It brings me to this…
My feelings at the start of the book:
1. Maverick. I hate her, she’s a bitch.
2. Killian. I hate him, he’s a weak cheating weasel.
3. Kael. Poor sucker, he’s stuck right in the middle of this mess.
My feelings by the end of the book:
1. Maverick. Girl, you’re a mess, but I feel for you.
2. Killian. Poor sucker, he’s stuck right in the middle of this mess.
3. Kael. Boy, you’re perfect and I love love love you.
And to think I almost DNFed it after that scene at the church. Thank God I didn’t. You too could be convinced to drop it, but I urge you to suck it up and give it a chance to grow on you. Because it’s worth it.
Now, about the writing. The story goes back and forth between the present and the past. It got a lot of flashbacks and encompassed almost the whole lives of the main trio. In my humble opinion (yeah yeah, I know nobody says that anymore) it was done masterfully. I never felt like it was disjointed or forced, or surved as a filler. It was great and it opened the layers of the relationships like skin of the onion. One by one. From the most simple to most revealing. That’s why you couldn’t begin to see the whole picture until you went deep in to it.
Another thing I was thinking at the beginning was why didn’t we have Killian’s POV if we had Maverick’s and Kael’s? I thought it would be at least informative and fair, as it was a love triangle. As in there is three sides to consider. But now I see that it would’ve spoiled the whole thing and I’m happy with the way it worked out, so yeah.
The ending was what I was rooting for and I couldn’t be happier but, you know, with every love triangle (well if you don’t count the really really smutty versions where everyone stays together as a big happy kinky family, and I love those too) there’s always one person who’s left behind and heartbroken. This makes me hope for a spin-off and Kreig is not ruling it out, so I’ve already crossed my fingers.
Side note. I need a Mary Lou in my life like pronto!
Side side note. Can anybody tell me how Kael’s name pronounces? I just don’t want to associate him with that disgusting green stuff americans seem to be obsessed with.
Over and out
